Ragada Pattice  
   
Serves 6

For Ragada
Ingredients
250 grams dried white peas 1 tea spoon garam masala
50 ml oil 1/2 tea spoon Mango powder ( Amchur)
4 green chilies -finely chopped ¼ tea spoon turmeric powder
1/2 tea spoon cumin seeds Salt to taste
1 tea spoon coriander powder  

For Patty
Ingredients
500 grams potatoes 6 cashews finely chopped
4 bread slices- cut into small squares
Salt to taste
½ tea spoon red chili powder
200 ml oil for frying
1” long ginger- finely chopped
 

Garnish
Rings of onion and tomato

Method
Ragada : Soak the peas over night. Pressure cook adding salt and turmeric powder. Heat the oil and add the cumin seeds and fry for 1 minute. Add the green chilies for another minute. Then add the coriander powder, garam masala, mango powder and the cooked peas. Mix well and cook for about 10 minutes. Add water and cook to give a thick gravy around the peas.

Patty :
Boil, peel and mash the potatoes. Add the bread slices and the spices. Mix well. Take 1-1/2 table spoon of mixture and shape it like a Patty (disc) about 2 in diameter. Heat oil in a flat fry pan. Skin fry the Patty on one side till golden brown. Then turn over and skin fry the other side till golden brown. Drain oil on a paper towel
Serve hot with patties on a quarter plate, then Ragda on top. Garnish with tomato and onion rings.

Modification
Bake the patty or cook the patty with minimum oil on a nonstick tava
